Project Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis

in Your Next Project

In 60 Days or Less!

AND CLAIM YOUR STAKE IN ONE OF THE FASTEST GROWING PROJECT MANAGEMENT FIELDS

( Without the raging overwhelm, complex statistical and modeling hangups, and software literacy)

Ever found yourself uncertain about your project’s cost estimate or if you'll hit that schedule completion date?

Tired of chasing unrealistic targets for time and money?

Wouldn't it be great to gauge the likelihood of meeting your project's cost and schedule goals?

Whether you're a project controls professional, project planner/scheduler, cost estimator, project/program manager, or a project leader, your goal is clear: steer your project to successful completion, right?

But let's face it, many projects veer off track because...

  • They start with overly optimistic cost and timeline targets that don't align with reality (Source: McKinsey & Company).
  • Disputes between owners and contractors often stem from a lack of clarity on contracts and risk allocation (Source: Arcadis, 2020: Global Disputes Report).
  • Neglecting risk management and oversight can lead to unnecessary conflicts and delays (Source: Arcadis, 2020: Global Disputes Report).

Projects inherently involve risks, but embracing Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) can significantly mitigate the chance of overly optimistic projections. It boosts confidence in your project's financial estimates and timelines, ultimately increasing the odds of success.

Regardless of your role or project scale—be it a billion-dollar airport venture or a smaller remediation effort—mastering the foundational principles of QRA ensures you develop realistic project plans that guide you to the finish line.

Isn't it high time to prioritize Cost & Schedule Risk Analysis in your projects?

Here’s What You Might NOT Know

Despite the enormous benefits that every project gains from conducting quantitative risk assessment, surprisingly few project professionals actually practice it.

Why?

Because many people perceive Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) as...

❌   Too complicated

❌   Time-consuming

❌   Expensive

But here's what you may not realize about QRA:

1. Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) is NOT Complicated!

Many believe that Quantitative Risk Assessment is akin to mastering a dark art – something only statistics geniuses can comprehend!

Okay, granted, mathematics and statistics can be daunting! While QRAs do rely on statistical analysis, you don’t need an in-depth understanding of complex formulas.

Just like you don't need to be a Mechanical Engineer to drive a car, you don't need to be a statistics whiz to interpret QRA results. Recognizing high-quality inputs and understanding warning signals from QRA outputs enable you to respond effectively and make informed decisions for project success.

QRA is much more approachable than you might think – perhaps you just haven’t been properly introduced yet!

2. Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) is NOT Time-Consuming & Expensive

"QRAs take forever – I don’t have the time or budget for that!" This common misconception often leads to avoiding QRAs altogether.

However, the cost and schedule impact of NOT identifying and managing project risks far outweighs the investment in performing a QRA.

Moreover, QRA doesn’t have to be an extensive, resource-draining exercise for every project. You can tailor your approach based on project size and budget.

For smaller, simpler projects, simply identifying and scoring risks may suffice without a full QRA.

3. The Majority of High Performing Organizations and Project Professionals Are the Ones Who Practice “Risk Management”

A Project Management Institute (PMI) survey revealed that 83% of high-performing organizations in project management regularly practice risk management.

If you're still unsure about how QRA can benefit your project, consider this: If you're not managing risks on your project, you're not truly managing your project.

Every project can and will benefit from a risk assessment.

And YOU can be the ONE who transforms the project success rate!

What If You Could….

✅ Claim your stake in one of the most crucial project management fields: Quantitative Risk Assessment, which is increasingly vital in these unprecedented times.

Samson Varghese

Quantity Surveyor, UAE

"Deciding to join for the Quantitative Cost & Schedule Risk Analysis program, developed by you, was one of the best decisions I have made so far. This course exceeded my expectation by all means.
I came into this course with a limited knowledge on risk management and a little exposure on QRA using @risk. After almost 8 weeks of training, during which the knowledge and skills required to run QRA, was taught by the very best in the field, I take pride in saying that I have not only increased my understanding, but have gained great confidence in the application of the skills and methods required to run a QRA.
The fact that the study was not just to provide another certification but to impart the fundamentals to help the risk practitioners achieve the best in QRA , is evident in the course content and attached case-studies. More time was spent to unravel the rudiments, than just simply to demonstrate how a QRA should be run. The course starts with providing basic understanding of the risk management principles, terminologies, then moving in to developing risk management plan and teaches how to run risk work shops, before developing risk registers and risk models to run the analysis using @risk and Safran. During the entire course, after each module, there are sufficient pitstops, in the form of case studies and Q&A to reinforce the subject matter.
It's worth mentioning that Richard Citrine has developed a great course material. His road-maps on every topic, helps to remember the entire content with ease. No doubt, that he has put in immense efforts to prepare the case studies, and I won’t be wrong in saying that they are the energy boosters in this entire course.
I would recommend this course for everyone who is involved in Project Controls and wants to expand his knowledge and skill in the field of risk management.

Course Outline & Agenda

The Quantitative Project Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis training consists of 18 modules, designed to be completed over approximately 7 weeks.

Each module introduces you to essential Quantitative Risk Assessment concepts, from drafting a Risk Management Plan to executing quantitative cost and schedule risk assessments, as well as reporting and mitigation strategies.

Beyond theoretical understanding, each module offers practical application opportunities. You'll engage in applying cost and schedule risk analysis principles to a sample project, ensuring hands-on experience throughout the course.

The integration of real-life examples and interactive case studies empowers you to conduct your own quantitative risk assessments (with some guidance) upon completing this training.

"Many thanks to both Richard and Shohreh for developing and hosting such a worthwhile and educational course. This training was worth a hundred times over the investment and commitment it took to complete.

I believe Risk Management should be mandatory training for all PMs and am grateful I was able to participate in the live course. Richard developed a top-notch program sharing his many years of experience and practical knowledge of Risk Analysis. Each session progressively expounded on vital aspects and techniques of project review, culminating in a clear understanding of not only the project, but what the Team sees as major challenges to project success, all wrapped up in a professional and cohesive Risk Report. The Case Studies provided me an opportunity for my own growth on a topic that I have to say I was quite intimidated with going into the course. I’m not so intimidated or overwhelmed by it now! I encourage every PM to take this course even if just saying the words “Risk Assessment” scares you. Richard presented the program in a manner that took the fear right out it! The trial software packages and the example Risk Registers were exceptional. Even if you may not have full and constant access to the software highlighted in the course, the techniques offered here related to reviewing your project essentials and developing the Risk Register are a must have! Thank you both so much for a great course. I’ve learned a great deal and will use this knowledge daily!!"

➥ A solid grasp of project management, project scheduling, and cost estimating concepts.

➥ Basic proficiency in mathematics, as some modules will touch on statistics and probabilities at a high level.

➥ Familiarity with Primavera P6 or another scheduling tool, along with moderate skills in MS Excel.

Do I Need Any Software for The Course Case Study?

You should have a basic understanding of Excel. However, you don't need prior experience with Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) software such as @RISK, Safran, Crystal Ball, or any other simulation tool.

The example case study will demonstrate the use of Safran and @Risk software integrated with Microsoft Excel. Nevertheless, the principles taught in the course are applicable to any QRA software. You can also opt to use another Monte Carlo package of your preference.

For the course case studies, we recommend installing the trial version of @Risk (15-day trial) and Safran (30-day trial), or any other QRA software of your choice. This allows you to apply what you learn in the course through hands-on case studies. Detailed instructions on when to download the software will be provided during the course, ensuring effective use of the trial period.
